Our dogsChickens, Goslings & Goats

Here at Chesterhill we have many lovely animals that you are very welcome to say hello to. Please remember they are animals and care must be taken with them.

Our Dogs

We have 3 lovely dogs, Bess is the elder of the three a small terrier of 15 years bought from the Cat and Dog shelter in Newcastle, she is the boss of the pack. Harvey is the mongrel, who has a great nature, he was also a rescue dog from Manchester, apparently abandoned with his brother in some rubbish bins at a block of flats. Finally the baby of them all Duke, our adventurous Border Collie, his energy is endless and will play for hours passing a ball back and forward to you.

Our Cat and Kittens

Felix is our black and white cat, we now also have 2 other cats who are sisters called 'Charlie' & 'Gizmo'- keep an eye for them outside roaming around the fields looking for mice!

Our Chickens

We have 20 chickens who lay gorgeous eggs nearly all year round. They love being fed rice and pasta, they are completely free range and roam the surrounding fields all day to return home to roost at dusk. We have also just bought some ex battery hens who need am little bit of tlc we hope they like their new home.

Our Ducks

We have alot of lovely ducks now all different colours and sizes, they too love being fed rice and pasta and every morning, waddle to the pond to begin a day of foraging for food, to return to the comfort of their home at night.

Our Goats

Our two Goats - Chalkie and Go-Bo, always hungry for hay and food and a loving pat please be careful though they can become a little aggressive and may butt you and mind your fingers??

Our Rabbit & Guinea Pigs

We have many resident wild rabbits in our fields, but we also have 1 domestic rabbits - namely- Thumper, and our 2 guinea pigs are 'GP' and Dandelion, they live a shed near our back door please ask if you want to see them they love visitors.

Our Doves

We have 9 white doves , look out for the dove cote on the side of the holiday let.May update 1 new chick has just been born and will be learning to fly with their mum soon.Our newest chick to grow and fly is 'Splat' look out for the brown splat on his wing.

Our 3 Jacob Sheep

The latest addistion to our animals are 3 lovely Jacob sheep lambs not a year old yet, they help keep the grass down in the field, they are still a little shy but do come to the chicken sheds at night for their evening feed, we have named them- 'Little' 'Bo' and 'Peep.
