Fishing: Felton Fence is the ideal spot to fish.

Golf: Percy Wood Golf Course Club is acknowledged as one of the finest in Northumberland. Situated close to the Cheviot Hills and moors, yet only a short drive from the coast, this delightful parkland setting offers spectacular views. The 18 hole, 72 par, undulating parkland course is set within fine mature woodland and is, in the words of its designer, "not for the faint hearted."

Horse Riding: Riding facilities are available nearby at Rothbury, Morpeth and Shilbottle.

Shopping: There are a few small shops in Longframlington (including a butcher’s, a paper shop and a convenience store) but for a greater variety of shops try Rothbury, Alnwick or Morpeth.

Bird Watching: The Farne Islands are well known as bird sanctuaries and a must for bird watchers.

Mountain Biking: Thrunton wood is about 9 miles from Swarland and is an excellent mountain biking (and walking) venue, all year round.

Local Inn: The Cook and Barker pub and award winning restaurant is only 2 miles away, opt for it’s cozy fire and traditional pub atmosphere or dine in it’s restaurant.

Eating Out: There’s a good choice of cafes and restaurants in Alnwick. Try Louis’ Steakhouse for the best steak in town.

Cragside Hall: A great hall built by Lord Armstrong-a pioneer of the Industrial Revolution. Surrounded by thousands of rhododendron bushes and some of the tallest trees in Britain, it is a delight for the naturalist and for those interested in historic homes.

Alnwick Castle: The official home of the Duke & Duchess of Northumberland. This very famous and well preserved castle, has been used as a location for many films including Harry Potter. Take a guided tour around the state rooms and visit the stunning china display. Children will be entertained at Knight’s Quest with medieval and interactive games.

Alnwick Gardens: There’s so much more to explore at The Alnwick Garden, created by the Duchess of Northumberland. Acres of fascinating plants, water sculptures and our infamous Poison Garden, for a start. Not to mention one of the world’s largest wooden tree houses, where you can have a light snack or a delicious evening meal surrounded by twinkling lights. A unique experience.

Farne Islands: A group of small islands about two miles off the coast of Northumberland, home to Lindisfarne, an ancient monastery. They're also famous as bird sanctuaries. Take one of the many boat trips and see the seals and infamous puffins.

Hadrian's Wall: A world famous Roman Wall extending from Newcastle to Carlisle, it has many historic roman sites along its path, and sections of the wall are remarkably well preserved.

The Whitehouse Farm Centre: Stannington, Morpeth - Whatever your age come along and join in for a unique  hands-on experience. Open every day except Mondays. most of the animals are still indoors for the winter. Don't forget to visit the "Farmers Den" themed soft play barn and its heated too!!
